Spotlight Of The Week: Coop. Tinamit
Volcano-rimmed Lake Atitlan has been called the world’s most beautiful lake.
It’s not just the natural beauty of the lake but the cultural diversity that makes it remarkable. In various small towns around the water, completely distinct Mayan languages like Kaqchikel and Tzʼutujil are spoken, each community with its own traditional dress and many with special traditions of pottery and art.
The high altitude and volcanic soils make Atitlán an ideal coffee region. Small producers often organized into cooperatives work here to preserve their environment as well as produce excellent coffees, and as a result the lake’s pollution levels have decreased in recent years.
We have a coffee on offer from Tinamit Cooperative both in Europe and USA. This coffee is very clean and transparent with notes of jasmine, dark chocolate, blackberry and peach.
