About Us

Our Director Nadine Rasch comes from a family with four generations of coffee growers in Guatemala, and she started Primavera to honor this legacy.

A passion for quality coffee was built into the company from the beginning, as well as a mission to deliver these beautiful coffees to roasters around the world as efficiently as possible. We love to foster relationships between roasters and producers, facilitating more direct and transparent trade with sustainability at the forefront of all we do.

The company started as Third Wave Coffee Source, operating as an importer of Guatemalan coffees in the UK and later in the EU and North America. Our sister exporting company La Central de Cafe opened its doors in Guatemala City in 2018, in order to be closer to the producers and improve efficiency in our value chain.

In 2019, we united the brand under a new name, Primavera Green Coffee. In 2023, we expanded our operations to include new origins, featuring more coffees that represent our values of sustainability and outstanding quality.

The amount of physical labor, resources, and land that it takes to produce a cup of excellent coffee is astonishing, yet the prices still do not reflect all it entails. Despite all the work required to make a single cup of this beloved beverage, the matter of coffee prices is a controversial and difficult problem. In our experience, we are able to pay farmers higher prices to reward noticeably high quality coffees. Through continued quality improvements, training, and long-term partnerships, our farmer partners will be able to secure higher prices and our customers will have access to better coffee with high marks in transparency and social and environmental sustainability.

We strive for excellence and efficiency, so that the producer can receive the best price possible.

❤︎ Quality

At Primavera Green Coffee, we strive for perfection at all stages of production, from farm management to harvesting and post-harvest processing. With engagement and good communication, we are able to influence the key decisions that result in an extraordinary cup of coffee.

In Guatemala, we have agronomists who work with producers in the field and provide them with technical assistance and guidance on coffee growing and farm management. We also have two certified Q-Processing professionals who work with producers on post-harvest processing, providing individualized advice based on the needs of each producer and their environment.

Our team of Q-Grade licensed cuppers ensure that all our coffees meet the standards and represent our commitment to the highest quality available.

←→ Transparency

In Guatemala, we are sourcing directly from outstanding producers and selling coffee directly to roasters in the UK, Europe, and North America. We’re here to facilitate direct trade relationships and connect roasters to the coffees and partnerships that meet their unique needs - a direct trade relationship with Primavera here to help with logistics and financing. Transparent and traceable value chains enable us to ensure that producers are well-rewarded for their efforts and their enthusiasm.

As Primavera Green Coffee continues to grow, we’ve taken this philosophy to new value chains beyond Guatemala - connecting our partner roasters to outstanding producers with an emphasis on transparent and equitable trade.

✿ Sustainability

We believe that sustainability has many facets, including economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Sustainability is not just a moral imperative - for us, sustainability is part of the long-term profitability of the coffee value chain, for Primavera and also for coffee producers. While the international coffee market does still impact our work and the price of coffee, we work to value coffee based on its quality and its attributes rather than based on the volatile market price. We engage with producers that have been historically disadvantaged in order to ensure that communities as a whole benefit from trade with Primavera.

Encouraging coffee farms to work in harmony with their environment and local fauna can be beneficial for coffee quality, too. Our agronomy team in Guatemala provides information and workshops on sustainable farming practices, more efficient water use, waste water processing and fertilization so that we can work together for conservation and protection of our environment. This way we can take care of the land so that it generously provides for the generations to come. We also invest in environmental sustainability via solar panels at our dry mill and programs such as 1% for the Planet, among other initiatives.
